Who's behind North East Comic Con, anyway? NECC is produced by Gary Sohmers' and Deric Shea's technology-minded company, Interactive Meet and Greet Entertainment (IMAGE).
IMAGE's mission is to bring fans a new type of pop culture event: a fan-centric event focused on integrating technology anywhere it's needed to create an optimal fan experience. So get ready to say "so long" to waiting hours on hours for autographs, hard-to-navigate event calendars, and getting lost in convention halls.
Fans and Families, Nerds and Geeks, Gamers and Cosplayers, Shoppers, Collectors and Culture-nistas, we have built a Special Event for YOU.
IMAGE's first pop culture event, Pop Culture Expo, was held at the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, MA, on Memorial Day Weekend 2014. PCX was a huge success and boasted over 4,000 attendees, amazing vendors, a voice actor script read, cosplay contests and some great video game competitions.
Gary has created and produced countless concerts and events and is renowned in the pop culture community, gaining the moniker "The King of Pop Culture". Gary also appeared on PBS's "Antiques Roadshow" for 13 seasons as the appraiser of pop culture. IMAGE's co-founder, Deric Shea, has over 30 years of proven leadership and engineering experience with companies like Iron Mountain Digital, Cisco Systems, and by lending his expertise to numerous Boston-area tech startups. This "odd couple" is paving the way by bringing comic cons, autograph shows, and the like into the 21st century.
You can expect some amazing entertainment
NECC will feature all the favorites of comic cons and pop culture events like cosplay and costume contests, video game competitions,
celebrity guests and autographs, panels, screenings, animation and anime, plus 100+ vendors of vintage and modern toys, comic books
and other pop culture must-haves, along with over 50 Artists and Authors.
What sets us apart is how we're bringing you the content.
Panel and screening seats will be reserved ahead of time, so no waiting in mobs of people only to realize the room is filled for your favorite panel.
Many of our celebs will be doing Video Ops... you get a video by email as your bragging rights to share with your friends as you walk away from the booth.
You can take any number of still photos from the video so instead of having one Photo, you know have hundreds ... plus Audio ...
you can talk to the Celeb for a minute or so and get their voice on your video.
Since NECC isn't at a hotel, there will be a lot more room for cosplay, contests, vendors and fun.
There will also be activities at the Crowne Plaza in Woburn, our host hotel, all weekend before and after show hours for those interested in parties,
adult costume contests, and VIP meal experiences with celebrities.
